Exploring Nature

Lalit Mohan Bansal | Chandigarh | 2019

Chandigarh is one of the greenest cities in the country with more than 40% of the geographical area under green cover. Located at the base of Shivalik Hills, it has got three water bodies i.e. Sukhna Lake, Dhanas Lake, and Lake in Sector 42. There are trees planted along the roadsides and a green belt has been provided almost in every sector. Besides these, there is one Wildlife Sanctuary, City Forest, and reserve forests. All these make Chandigarh a perfect home to several species of resident birds and an important ground for many migratory species in winter.
