Nature Walk 2022

The calendar year 2022 is going to say goodbye but not before leaving several beautiful memories.  The year 2022 has been a roller coaster ride for people as we breathe in almost a Covid-free world after facing 2 years of restrictions. If I turn the pages of the year 2022, the year turned out to be rewarding for me. I have many achievements in this year. Birding has always been my best friend. This year I added 25 lifers to my bird’s species list making the total 277. Some of my clicks and articles were selected and published by the leading news papers for articles related to nature and birding. Though I clicked 205 species this year, I am sharing some of my beautiful experiences and clicks.

When I started selecting the first picture, it was very difficult for me like this Red – vented Bulbul selecting the best from the group of Green Bee-eaters.

You cannot miss viewing the winter visitors arriving at the Village Pond of Mote Mazra. Sharing the picture clicked at the Village Pond in February 2022, of the one of the highest-flying birds in the world, the Bar-headed goose. It flies above the Himalayan Mountains when it migrates, at heights that may reach 30,000 feet.

Around Chakki Mor – Bhoj Nagar Road in Himachal, months of January to March are the best to enjoy the altitudinal migration of birds.

The reference of Chakki Mor and Bhoj Nagar is incomplete without mention of Lipstick Bird ” Red-billed Leiothrix ” and “White crested Laughing thrush”

In the month of May 2022, when all the winter visitors become out of focus, then you can listen the songs of the Summer Guests “the Common hawk – Cuckoo” also known as Brain fever bird on the nature trail at Sukhna Lake Reserve Forest.

Then comes the time of arrival of my dream bird, which came true this year. Bird with Nine Colors ” Indian Pitta ” comes every year at Thapli near Chandigarh in Summer Season.

During this time of the year, we can also see the bird associated with Hindu legends and considered auspicious, Neelkanth or the “Indian Roller”, one of the most colorful birds.

Coming back to Nature Trail, Sukhna Lake Reserve Forest, the bird with brains and brawn “Shikra”. The adult males have deep orange-red eyes can easily change the direction of your camera. Though a resident bird, but the following pose captured in the month of June 2022 is my favorite.

Eurasian Hoopoe, an utterly unmistakable orange bird with a zebra-striped wings, a Chinese fan of a crest (usually held closed, but often raised just after landing), luckily it was captured with the raised crown of feathers.

I had never imagined that I would be birding at Pangong Lake in my life. But it became possible in this year. I would never forget this lovely Common Merganser and Brown headed Gull another lifers for me in the blue waters of Pangong Lake.

Nature has unlimited surprises in store for you, all you need is to have the desire and the patience. Running after the call for number of days, finally I got this picture of Common Cuckoo clicked at Nature Trail.

With the start of October, avian guest started arriving at the Sukhna Lake and another lifer for me “Ferrigenous Ducks” were seen and clicked by me in October 2022.

More guests started joining the trail and this flock of 33 Greylag Geese was a great surprise and wonderful catch for me.

Ruddy Shelducks arrive in large number at lake every year, but the shot I was trying to catch got this year. in November 2022.

LOVE YOU ZINDAGI

The new year 2023 will start with new hope and determination to get more closer to nature.
